Hungry for Poetry?

Would you like to have lunch tucked away in UC Berkeley’s Doe Library while the poems of C.S. Giscombe are read aloud by Giscombe himself?

Well, now you can with this edition of Lunch Poems, featuring Giscombe, now a professor at Berkeley.

Giscombe graduated from Cornell University, where he was the editor of Epoch Magazine. He has published several books of poetry including, Prairie Style, Giscome Road, and Here and a prose text titled Into and Out of Dislocation, as well as being published in other notable publications such as Callaloo, Another Chicago Magazine, Hambone, and New American Writing.

Before becoming a professor at Berkeley, Giscombe taught at Cornell University, Syracuse University, Illinois State University, and Pennsylvania State University. His work, Prairie Style, won a 2008 American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation. Giscombe also won the Stephen Henderson Award in 2010 from the African American Literature and Culture Society.

Look out for his new collection of essays, titled Back Burner, to be released this year.
