This documentary from UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine follows five medical students from a variety of backgrounds in their first and last years attending UCLA’s School of Medicine. Hear what inspired them to become doctors, the sacrifices they made individually and with their families to succeed as medical students, how the COVID-19 pandemic affected their experiences, and their hopes for the future as doctors.
During their last year of school, the students attend Match Day which many feel is even more important than graduation day. As the students go through medical school, they choose a specialty, go through a process of applying and interviewing, and then on Match Day, learn where they are placed for residency. It determines where they will be living and in which specialty they will be training. As one student described it, “I’ll be honest, it’s hard to enjoy the last 10 days before Match Day just because it carries so much weight.” Watch as they discover what the future has in store for each of them as they begin the next part of their medical education journey.
The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is a groundbreaking community of problem solvers, caregivers, innovators, and life-long learners with a noble mission: to heal humankind by delivering leading-edge research, education, patient care, and community engagement.
